I noticed that the white borders on many of the styles are wider than I'm used to with Producer.  For example, the Zoom in or zoom out framed styles.  I can alter the vignette to make the borders thinner... but it is very time consuming for each slide.  With Producer, I could save my own modified styles.  Can I do this somehow in Photopia to solve this issue?

With the Photopia Director product you can go to "Effects" > "Create Style" to create a new style based on the current settings for the selected slide.  This option is also available from the right-click menu in the "Slides" list.  Photopia Creator does not include the option to create styles, so this option is not available in that product.

We'll be taking a closer look at the underlying issue with these styles as there does appear to be an unintended discrepancy in the width of those borders.
