After a couple months of never being able to complete a BluRay creation run it is finally working for me. What fixed it was uninstalling “Malwarebytes” from my PC. It only failed for me on BluRay creation - DVD and stand-alone shows worked fine. This particular project has 8 shows and runs for 55 minutes. Shows have slides, videos, and music in them. So it’s not a small project. My PC has 16 GB of memory and it used 14-16 GB during the creation process. If you are having this problem, and if you have Malwarebytes on your PC you might try uninstalling it and see if that helps. I hope this is useful for someone, and I wish I had discovered it earlier. Oh, I had tried just stopping Malwarebytes execution while creating a BluRay image, but complete uninstallation was required.

I may have spoken too soon - the last run I made, after 4 good ones without rebooting, crashed at 33% completion. I was not running monitors when that happened so don't know what happened. BUT - I got my first good 4 runs after uninstalling Malbyteware, so I still think there is a strong connection to that. Frustrating.

I used to be a big supporter of Norton’s many years ago before it became a resource hog. That is why I switched to Malwarebytes Premium. Malwarebytes alone with Windows Defender protects all my pc’s without a problem until Creator, but by excluding Photopia directories there are no more issues. If you were running Malwarebytes in conjunction with Norton’s, that could be a problem. Maybe not the problem you are seeing but a problem none the less.
Hopefully Joshua can come up with a fix for the problem you are having. Good luck.

Thanks, Bob - see my edit in the post above. I didn't realize you had already responded when I added the edit. I ran the free version of Malwarebytes along with NIS and had not had any problem until Photopia. Your tweaks helped, but for some reason the BluRay process just doesn't like it. I could do single shows without a real problem, but not the big project that I'm just completing. Thanks again for your pointers and suggestions - very helpful!

Hey Duane, if you were running the free version of Malwarebytes it should not interfere with Photopia at all since it isn’t doing anything until you run a scan. That’s the difference between free and premium, premium is constantly checking. So it looks like you will have to wait on Joshua for a solution, sorry.
Bob
Thanks again, Bob. I believe the free version runs scans on some sort of schedule, but wouldn't swear to it. Doesn't matter now - since removing it I've only had one crash and that was after running 2-3 consecutive successful BluRay creation jobs. Prior to removal it was 100% failure rate. I agree, running two anti-malware packages at the same time was a poor choice, and could have also contributed. Live and learn!

Duane, not sure how long the video's are that you are doing but have you tried to do a AVCHD indtead of a BluRay? I believe you can get 35 minutes on a single layer disk and at least an hour on a double layer. Much cheaper than the BluRay disks. Still need a BluRay player to use but much less waste.
Take care,
Bob
Hi Bob,
It's a 55 minute projects with 8 shows. The BluRay is working fine now, so I'll stick with it. I can get BluRay discs at Fry's pretty cheap, so no big deal on that front. Thanks again! I'll try AVCHD on the next project just to check it out, for fun....
