Photo not always dropping in layer selected. If I show content of slide and try to put a photo a particular layer it does not always go there, it would instead jump to first available.

We're not seeing this issue on our end, although there have been some updates released since this thread was posted.  When you get a chance, please make sure you have the latest update then try to reproduce this issue.  Let us know what you find and we'll go from there.  Thank you.

Thanks Joshua, I'm not sure if the problem isn't my own doing. If I go too fast and don't wait for the layer to highlight fully then it drops the photo into the first available position. If I stay on the layer and the complete box is highlighted then it works correctly. I still think the program is very sluggish which may be part of the reason.

Please give this issue another try when you get a chance.  There was a new build released a few days ago that includes speed improvements specifically targeted at navigating through the program.

Robert,
I hadn't noticed your thread here earlier.
I noticed that when I was practising before making the tutorial on Colour Wash, that I sometimes saw the problem you are describing.

In my case, it was definitely my own fault. Because of the size of the area you are wanting to drop the image on, sometimes you miss and it will appear on/in another layer, usually the layer above or below.

Speed can sometimes make the process longer! 😀

Regards

Douglas

I will put this through the paces again tomorrow and let you know how I make out.

Hi, when I noticed the problem it would always go to the first layer available, if there were 10 layers and the first 2 already had something in them and I tried to drop a photo into layer 8 it would go to layer 3 instead. Always the first available, not one up or down. I haven’t tried since the last update but will tomorrow.

Thanks Douglas for your input.

Bob

I did some playing around today and I think I am dropping the photo too soon. If I drag a photo to a layer I MUST wait until the complete layer highlights. If the layer only highlights on the bottom line of the box then the photo will drop below, and if the layer highlights only the top of the box it will drop above. It looks like if you are dropping into the last layer and only the bottom part of the box highlights then it will create a new layer to drop into.

I guess I need to slow down and really watch what is happening. Joshua maybe you can confirm this for us.

Thanks, Bob

That is correct Bob

Just what I saw.
When you are in the correct position to drop the image, you should see the "box" highlighted with a rectangular red border.
Dropping too soon only shows a red line between existing images, and you drop the image between them.

Actually, as long as you know this you can still work at a faster pace - just keep your eyes open for the red rectangle!

Douglas

Hei, i had  a little problem today with photos to layers. I had no problems to make 10 layers some with only colour and i could move them all up and down very easy.

I wonder if i did something - always possible - laptop moves many times before and without my hands and brain - but as i remember , so i only continue to take photos to layers.

Now they went to first slide on timeline.

I am a photo shopist so i always must try what can i do  with new  situation. I will get "Happy accident "

I started to make slide style of those three- four photos. not so bad result, not very good either. - not ready.  I could work with each photo. I found many finess what i never noticed in Proshow.I need a lot of training. Program was stable all the time.

I will see tomorrow if i get same problem that photos goes to first slide in timeline and what i have done wrong.

@mirja

Hi Mirja,

As Douglas and I mentioned above, the layer you want to drop into must be completely highlighted. If not it will go up or down depending on where the line is. See below.

Thanks for screenshot..I never get it that way. Nothing is highlighted when i get photo to layers.I see blue line when i want to move a photo up or down.

I wonder if i do on wrong way.Very good you sent screenshot because before i did not completely

understood what you are speaking about.

I will do the same tomorrow and see if it was my fault photos started go to first slide.

And if I get highlighted as you. I look at your screenshot again and i saw placeholder. and content was blue. I did not use placeholder. Tomorrow  I will do it on another way. and i have not seen information of photo .I had collect photos a one folder. I only choose one and then another on next folder.

Thanks a lot for information.  Mirja

Hei, I do not  get blue highlighted box. But i get layers and i can make slide style of them and even put every photo some special effects. I can move them up and down; change places.Today i did not even see blue line as yesterday. Placeholder i do not find. Must see Jennifer,s Vimeo videos again.

For me this was ok. but still i must learn more, because next time one photo took away a photo from a layer and put it self there..Of course i could pick up again photo which was any more there. Please try to understand my bad english .

This program is really very advanced! I am happy over it. Takes time to learn.

Wish you happy Sunday  Mirja

Hi, wow that is weird that you do not see the blue box if you hover over the layer to drop a image. I don’t know what to tell you. Maybe @joshua or @vidqueen has a answer for you. You have a great Sunday also.

I'm afraid this is going to be one for @joshua.  The only way, I'm aware of, to not see a blue line of any kind when adding an image is if you're NOT adding it from the Browser, but adding it from the Add icon at the top of the Layer List (which is a perfectly fine way to add images, but it's always an add, not a drop into placemarker).  It's also very likely that I'm just not understanding the problem 🙁
