Download & Install
Photopia product downloads should be a simple and straight forward process. Just download the installation file for the appropriate product from the Downloads page, save that file to your local computer, then double (left) click on that installation file and the installer should take care of the rest. Please be sure to read all prompts carefully and you should be in good shape. If you need further assistance, please let us know through the Contact Us page.
Photopia products generally handle upgrades automatically. This is one of the advantages of a subscription-based product model, the most recent program updates are always available. If you see a green ‘upgrade available’ message in the bottom-right corner of the program, just click on it to open the “Updates Available” window. This window will contain the relevant revision notes and a few buttons. Clicking the “Update” button will cause the program to be updated, which involves an automatic program restart. The computer will not be rebooted during this process, just the Photopia software. Clicking on the “View Revision History” button will take you to the revision history page on the Photopia website while clicking the “Cancel” button will back out of the upgrade process entirely, just in case you’re in the middle of something.
Photopia Creator and Director are available only for both Windows and Mac desktop computers. Installation files are available from the Downloads page. Simply download and run the installer of your choice and the Photopia software should walk you through the rest of the process.

Frequently asked questions
photopia products
What is Photopia?
Photopia is an all new slideshow creation tool, brought to you by some of the same software designers and developers who previously provided the award winning line of ProShow slideshow creation tools. Photopia products, Creator and Director, are currently available as Windows applications, although we also expect to see them on the Mac platform soon. If you’re just looking around, please feel free to download Creator or Director for a 14-day trial. We know you’ll find Photopia to be one of the best slideshow creation tools on the market. For a list of differences between Creator and Director, please see our product comparison page.
Where can I purchase Photopia products and what is the cost?
Photopia products, Creator and Director, are available through an affordable subscription system. If you’re ready to create slideshows but not sure if you’ll use the product regularly, try the Monthly Subscription option. If you’re already sure that this is the right product for your ongoing slideshow creation needs, the Yearly Subscription option provides a bit of a discount over the monthly rate.
Why are you charging a subscription instead of just selling your software?
Photopia products are available through a subscription system for a number of reasons. One of the biggest reasons is that software subscriptions allow companies to continue innovating and updating their products without slowing things down for ‘the next big update’. Our goal with Photopia is to provide the best possible slideshow creation tool, at all times. One way to achieve that goal is to ensure that our design / development teams can remain focused on improving (and fixing) our products in the most efficient manner possible. Providing software through a subscription service means that we can be more responsive to customer feedback and innovate more rapidly. It also means that you’re only paying for the product when you need it, instead of investing a large fee up front for a product you may only use once or twice a year.
Do I need to have an active internet connection to run the program?
No! An active internet connection is only required when running in trial mode. When the program is registered you only need to connect to the internet once a month to validate your license.
I have a subscription but can’t find my registration key?
Registration keys and other account-specific details can be found from the “My Account” link on the main Photopia site. You’ll also find options for managing your subscription, contact information, and related details in this location. You should also have a copy of this registration information in your eMail. Just be sure that you’re checking the proper eMail account and that you’re looking in any spam / trash folders, where eMails of this nature can sometimes end up. Should you need any further assistance, please feel free to contact us and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
Who can I contact for help?
We provide primary support services through eMail, with additional support available through this FAQ and our forum. Please feel free to request assistance for specific questions at any time and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

Proshow customers
Are these Photopia products the same as ProShow?
Photopia provides two slideshow creation applications, Creator and Director. If you’ve used ProShow Gold or Producer, these are very analogous products. Photopia is the next evolution in slideshow software, designed from the ground up to be more responsive, robust, and feature rich than its predecessors. We encourage you to download Photopia today and give it a try. You’ll be able to quickly drop image, video, and audio files into the Wizard (or a blank show) to create something amazing in no time. Publishing these shows to YouTube, Facebook, and other formats is very straight forward. If you have any questions, we encourage you to view our professionally designed tutorials; also available directly through the program, under the Help menu (F1).
How is this product different than ProShow?
Photopia is the next evolution of slideshow creation software. ProShow was originally designed decades ago, a breakthrough application for its time capable of burning slideshows to CD / DVD media before most other applications were even able to integrate audio into a show. Photopia builds on that legacy, brought to you by some of the same designers and developers who worked on the original ProShow products. The interface may be new and the features more robust but the underlying design principals remain the same; provide a tool that allows people to create their own amazing slideshows that integrate image, audio, and video elements into a single seamless production. Photopia even maintains backwards compatibility with existing ProShow slideshows, styles, and transitions. We encourage you to download Photopia today and give it a try.
I already bought ProShow, do I have to purchase the program again?
Photopia is a new product, distinct from ProShow in both design and implementation, which does require a new purchase. The product support / update philosophy with Photopia products is also a bit different. Rather than paying once for a program that never changes, Photopia products operate under a subscription based system. This allows us to focus on product development in a more complete way, providing both fixes AND feature additions on a more regular basis. The product update processes is also integrated directly into the product, providing quicker access to new features and bug fixes. The days of wondering if you qualify for an upgrade are behind us. Every Photopia subscription includes all of the latest product updates, always.
Will my existing ProShow slideshows / effects work in Photopia?
Yes, the vast majority of your existing slideshows, slide styles, and transitions from ProShow Gold / Producer will work in Photopia products. There are some limitations for certain features (ex. Vignettes), but we’re working to make those features fully supported as well. If you should find any problems related to importing an existing slideshow, slide style, or transition please feel free to contact us straight away to get things sorted out.
Music Library
Photopia comes with a high quality royalty free Music Library. Unfortunately, it will not carry over support for the ProShow Music Library. Licensing terms for that Music Library are very specific and do not include Photopia products. When you import a ProShow file that uses music from the ProShow Music Library you will need to replace this music. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
