Former Photodex user. For years maybe since they started I was and still have their software for their Pro Show Producer and Pro Show Gold programs. I was, as many it sounds like, sorry to see them go but with high hopes that whoever took up the torch would carry on in a similar fashion. Photopia has chosen to sell subscriptions to the software and I for one am sorry to see them go this way. For the occasional user this is not good and I think will keep your sales down and could mean the difference between your success or failure. I do understand you can pay by the month or year and that is good for those who just need the software for just a short time every now and then. This reaction is maybe a little premature but this is my first few days to get to know you and I will give this sometime to sink in and see how things are going. The former software by Photodex was around 295 to 395 dollars to purchase full version with updates around 99 to 149 dollars that were available maybe each year, but you did not have to update if you did not want to. There are other companies that sell subscriber versions but they make a pay per show (video) available as well. I do wish you the greatest success and will watch to see how this goes and will at some point use you on a month by month basis to work productions as they come up.

We appreciate the well wishes and understand that subscription-based software is not for everyone. A subscription-based model allows us to provide improvements, bug fixes, and new features to every customer all the time, which is certainly a big part of why that system was chosen. It should also be noted that Photopia subscriptions can be suspended from the "My Account" section of our website, so you're only paying for the time you actually need.
Given that cost is a factor, it may be worth taking a closer look at the differences between Director and Creator. They're both great products, but if Creator meets your needs there is obviously some savings to be had there.

@joshua Been a long time subscriber to other Apps such as Photoshop and with the current development of the App platforms I do understand and as I stated above I will use the App on a month by month basis and is a great feature and I am glade to see you have made that available. Thanks and look forward to getting to know the software and the new features.
