In 32-bit Producer it was possible to create complex presentations in limited RAM (less than 4 GB). In a 64-bit Director of medium complexity, the presentation fills the entire 16 GB RAM, creating a problem during work. Why??? It was expected that with the advent of the 64-bit version of the program, productivity and comfort in work will increase. We have been waiting for the transition to the 64-bit version to increase productivity. Can any of the curators of the program comment on this moment? If this situation persists, then I see absolutely no reason to part with the Producer and go to the Director.

Hei Paul.

I cannot explain how a program use 90 % of the power. I was very suprised.  When i checked my taskbar doing nothing so there were going processer which took 21%.

i made a short and very quickly - express - a slideshow with transitors and slidestyles  without any videos  -. and very short music  and i came up 55% and up 5000. 16 GB 64-  bit laptop. So short slideshow i never do and i use always videofile... I must check how much power Proshow takes.

This is very interesting. You,Paul did not get no power over. You can not open photoshop or some other program.coming back .This i must check.

Sorry i cannot explain anything. But i must always know i have at least 20% left for photoshop...--Mrja

I think it does not go to compare Proshow Produce with Director.Proshow is 32 -bit and work goes very slowly. It was good to see how fast i got slidestyles on Director. It was really express. It took very, very long time on Proshow. It took 28% about memory with slidestyles and transitors  - no music and videos.

I have looked before directors memory use and it was not so high. I know Luminar take a lot of memory. I opened Director on with the slideshow i made .

It takes now 28% and i read low.!  1.4 - 2 Cpu   .To those 28% must count also 21 % which procceser on background takes. Am i right? No programs are open.

I hope somebody who can will answer. Computers work still interest me. I want to learn more.  Mirja

You,Paul did not get no power over.

Hi Mirja, with such a load of RAM, of course, all other processes on the computer will slow down. As you can see in my picture, only the Opera browser was open, and it used only 33 MB of memory. I'm not talking about more resource-intensive programs, such as, for example, Photoshop. Nothing more was discovered. Again, I return to the comparison with the 32-bit Producer ... you could work in 3-4 resource-intensive programs at the same time, and there was no RAM overload or any slowdown of the process.

@stranger2156     Thank you,Paul ,    you showed this. so i learn to be careful. I knew there will come all the time programs which

need more RAM and CPU.

Therefor i bought 32 GB Desktop,  when it just came to Sweden - i needed new- . and  i am sure i must soon make it  to 62 or is it 64 GB.

So it has been all the time , stronger computers , videocards. and so on.

Photopia works  for me on 16GB.

Adobes photoshop does not take much memory.but for you it is impossible use it together with Photopia.

Some people use 4K videos in Photopia. Interesting  know how many they can have. How it goes?.

How much memory takes all video editing programs.? Must try !

 You have made me curiuos.
I understand if you go back to Proshow. Pity any way.

Thanks for taking up this with RAM. Mirja
