Well this really stinks!! It seems that the program is in fact still in beta, check out the preferences screen and try to turn error reporting off. It cannot be turned off. I have a subscription and I would think the paid version would be out of beta.
Hi Robert. You made me go and look at the preference screen and see what this error thing is all about. I get it now.
I am still in Creator trial version which will end in two days. I was busy the previous two days so did not have time to try Creator much. However, I have been keeping up with reading the forum.
I am in total love with Photodex but I am not going to give up on Photopia (creator) yet. I had bought some of Jennifer's training videos from udemy and choice slides over the years and from her, began to understand masks. layers and many many things. This helped me very much and I understood how to make use of Photodex to meet my needs. Creating shows for my family from the loads of photo collections that I have. It also became a favorite hobby and I may just enjoy sitting for a while playing around and exploring with the different styles and transitions. I
Right now I find Photopia difficult but I have not had time to watch Jennifer's vimeo videos. I want to do that. I see that Mirja has benefitted from the vimeo videos. I am happy that this program allows us to import shows from Producer even if there are still problems in the imported show. I have imported shows into Photopia with no problem and for a few slides just had to re-do the style.
I am still trying to make up my mind of subscribing for a month or go for a year's subscription. I know that even if the program is in beta stage, the developers will adjust things. Director's annual subscription will add up and is expensive and I do not need it anyway but Creator's 100- dollars yearly subscription can be tolerated.
Also I am happy with this forum because we learn from each other even if it is a message from one of us highlighting a problem in the software.
Hi Dina, I’m sure Jennifer would not have gone all in with Photopia if she had any doubts. I have purchased her training video’s also and have been very happy, also her templates make putting a complex show together simple. As you can tell I am a big fan of her. I think in the long run Photopia will be a good (great) program but I’m not happy with them using us for beta testing and charging at the same time. When this forum started Joshua chimed in to answer questions and report back to Photopia the problems we all were having, hopefully he will come back when they get caught up a little. 2 updates since the release is a good sign but there are many more issues. At the top of that list should be some documentation so we could possibly answer our own questions. Sorry for the rambling on. 😬
Bob
Bob, thank you for reporting that discrepancy in the Preferences window. The version of Photopia available to the public is not a beta product, but there does appear to have been an 'easter egg' left in there for everyone. 8) We'll get that option cleaned up.
Should you run into any other issues, feel free to use the Contact Us page on our site, which gets bug reports to us a bit quicker. The more bugs we can find, the more bugs we can fix, so keep those reports rolling in and we'll keep the updates rolling out.
