Hello folks,
Seeing as how my favourite slideshow programme is now defunk and someone told me about Photopia I thought I would have a look at it.
I have downloaded the trial versions of both versions.
Is there anything I should absolutely know about before I start to try and make my own slideshows?
cheers
Steve
Welcome @steve, make sure you check out all the tutorials in the support section on the top bar.

Thanks folks,
Lillian, do I need a code for the discount? if so where from?
Bob. Tks I think I will have to as I can't find any manual anywhere. I have noticed a couple of oddities today but that is probably just because I am unfamiliar with the programme.
Will have to have to have a proper play around on it I think.
tks

Photopia was supposed to notify all Proshow users but I guess they are behind with that. The good news is that there is a discount code. Go to Choice Slides and leave a message for Jennifer, she will email you the code. While there look around at all the great products she has created for both Photopia and Proshow.

@steve, I don't imagine you will have any problems creating new shows using Photopia, but if you try to import old Photodex shows, you may encounter quite a few problems. One show I tried to import didn't transfer correct masking or borders, although another one I tried to import seemed to get it right. One major (at least for me) shortcoming with Photopia is that they do not have a "safe zone" for pictures and videos within a given slide like Photodex does/did. I prefer having a "safe zone" rather than filling up the entire frame, although I guess that is just my preference. I also noticed some rather cumbersome steps involved in editing individual photos/videos in a given frame. Unless and until these issues are resolved, as of right now, I think I will just continue to use ProShow Producer, since I am happy with the final product, and I have saved and backed up the installation file. I may change my mind later on.
Although we've already covered many of these details through eMail, don't hesitate to drop us a line with workflow related suggestions / concerns / observations. We're open to feedback on anything our software is doing that you think (or know) it shouldn't be doing.
Thanks everyone,
Sorted out codes but don't think I am going to buy/subscribe just yet.
Just want to play around a little bit first before committing to spending a lot of money. I don't really like the subscription model thing.
I can't find a manual anywhere though. From what I have read on the forum there isn't one?? That's a shame because I don't really like having to watch videos to learn the basics of something but I will give it a try.
I have tried a couple of things so far like using the wizard and have tried importing a complete show. Both gave me problems but that might just be my lack of knowledge of the programme.
Thanks for your replies.

downloaded trial verson of director.Cant open.Getting error:"door open on drive A.I did create an account also beforehand.
We are working on releasing a manual for Photopia Creator / Director, although it's not yet ready. I expect there will be posts announcing its arrival once that occurs.
Please reach out through our Contact Us form to troubleshoot this issue. We're aware of the problem, which doesn't affect every system, and would like to work with you to obtain further details about your setup. Thank you.
