So in the Proshow file browser that you use to select the sides you want in the show, and then add them, one of the options for sorting the jpgs for the
show is sort them numerically. That way the files get loaded into the show by the number you have assigned to them. See photo below for ProShow Producer
available sort functions. Unless I have missed something that option isn't available in Photopia?
Have I missed that sorting option? Or is that sorting option missing?
Photopia should automatically sort numeric filenames properly so that they end up in the expected order, without having to switch the "File Name" sort between 'alphabetic' and 'numeric' modes. We'll make sure this detail gets a closer look.
As with any numeric sorting you need to use at least 3 digits to sort up to 99, more if going higher.
Instead of 1.jpg use 001.jpg and 081.jpg, then the sort will work.

Numbering those files with three digits will certainly resolve this issue. The other solution is for the "Name" sort in Photopia to use a 'numeric' model that treats digits differently than letters / symbols. This is a 'classic' file sorting consideration and something we expect to have addressed in the next update.
Thanks for the suggestion. I certainly can renumber the files to three digits. Just another step. ( can't change the numbering set up that creates files )
The thing is, I still have a working Proshow Producer which will sort the files the way they are currently numbered in the example.
In fact, the only reason I purchased Photopia, was that the Proshow software would no longer render the files.
So to purchase the next version of Proshow, and have it lacking things I took for granted in the old version is somewhat disappointing.
I have it on good authority that this file sorting detail will indeed be resolved in the next update. No word on exactly when that update will be released, but I expect something soon.
