Can you explain the concept behind a show or shows in a project?
What is the advantage of having multiple shows in a project?
Thanks!
I'd like to know this, too, and what "New Show In Project" means and gets me.

Projects and shows is analogous to Windows file manager where folders (projects) contain files (shows). I use this structure and have many of Jennifer's "Create It" slide tutorials as shows in a project named Slide Library. The confusing part about the way Photopia does it is a single show becomes a project/show (one in the same) and many times it is referred to as either project or show. To make it clearer, a single show should stand alone and grouping multiple shows would go into a project.
Hope this helps, this is the way I understand and use projects and shows.

Here’s an example. I like to document my river cruises, so I create a SHOW for each day of the cruise and name it for the town that is the focus for that day. Each show has its own music, styles, etc. They are built into a PROJECT which holds them all and allows me to create a “menu.” Once the PROJECT is published, a viewer can select which show he wants to watch next, etc. I can then burn the project to a DVD, or make a stand-alone show, etc. where all of this works together. So, a PROJECT is a container for one or more SHOWs that you would want to publish together. I hope this helps.

Ah, thanks for a great explanation! So if I had started a Project and there are a bunch of slides there, how do I make them a Show within that project?
Hi Hilary,
Ok, if you are looking at your project with the existing show, click on the Project tab at the upper left and do either one of these:
- click the “+ New” button under “Shows” in the upper part of the left pane, or,
- File | New Show in Project at the command line at the top of the Photopia window.
Just think of the project as a container for show(s). Does this help?

Duane,
Many thanks for the explanation and good example!
Now I understand the difference.
Best regards,

Not sure. so I created a Project and just started adding slides. Saved it that way. THEN I found out about this Show thing, and created a different Show(different slides) in that one.
Now the old slides are still in the Project root (if you will) and those are the ones I'd like to move to a NEW Show. Cut and paste after creating a new Show?
Thanks
I haven't tried that, so I don't know an answer to your question. You might poke around on the command area under "Show" and see if there is something there for copy/paste, etc. Hopefully someone else who has knowledge on this will chime in.
[Edit] It just occurred to me, another option is that if you create various "single" slideshows on different topics, you could use a project just to collect those. Or have one project for each different topic which might contain multiple shows. The drawback to this, at least currently, is that I have not found a way to "publish" a single show if the project has multiple shows in it. That doesn't mean there isn't a way, I just haven't stumbled across it if it exists! A users manual would be nice, but none available yet. Also, I don't recall seeing it mentioned in any of Jennifer's tutorial videos. So, this adds one alternative for you. Doesn't answer your question about moving from one Proj to another, however.

Hi Hilary,
Not sure if you have seen any of the tutorials that Jennifer from Choice Slides is doing but use the link below to get some understanding of Project vs Show. Hope this helps.
