I want to preview only the slide I am working on but I can't find the option for this. It either goes all the way back to the beginning or it skips ahead to another slide. I can't just get it to preview the one slide I'm working on. Thanks.

One slide can be viewed on the keyframes tab.

It continues to play all of the slides unless you stop it. I want to preview just the slide I am working on at the time like you can do in Producer.

A crude way to preview just one slide is to Right Click on the slide (the ones numbered at the bottom of the screen, not the main one in the preview window) and  choose "Select Style". This will show/play the slide and the effect you have chosen.

... and  choose "Select Style"

i could be mistaken, but it seemed to me that the question was about playing / viewing one slide that is currently being created. As we could play in the producer, in the slide options window. I answered above that this can be done on the keyframes tab.
And by clicking on "choose a style" you can see only the work of a previously created style.
