Animating Layers inside an Animated Group
In the last blog, you learned how to Animate a Multi-Layer Group. This week, we’ll take it one step further and animate some of the layers inside that Group, while the Group is also animated.
We have our images arranged into a “tableau”, and we have placed them inside a Group. We’re going to move our images from the outside of the screen to the inside and add a Fade Flip Fly-In to our caption.
Selecting each layer inside the Group, one at a time, we’ll place the images toward the outside of the screen on their first keyframes and back to the middle of the screen on their second keyframes. In the image above, we’ve moved the left image to -30 for its Horizontal Position on its 1st Keyframe.
Next, we’ll select the image on the right and move its 1st Keyframe’s position to +30
Then, we’ll add a Fade Flip Fly-In to our Caption, change the duration to 3 seconds, and move its 1st Keyframe in to the 1 second mark on the timeline. If we play this back, the images will come together in the middle and our caption will flip on screen.
Now, we’ll select the Group Layer, itself. On it’s first keyframe, we’ll reduce the zoom down to 70% and on it’s 2nd Keyframe we’ll keep it at 100%.
Now when we play this back, all three layers will zoom forward as a single unit (that’s the Group), while they move to the center of the screen as individual layers.
