Layer Order in the Layers List
The numerical layer order in the Layers List does not represent a position on the screen or the order in which the images were added to the slide. The Layer order represents a stacking order, like a deck of cards.
In these examples the vertical and horizontal positions of the images remain the same. The only thing that will change is the layer order in the Layers Tab, which affects the stacking order of the images. In the first example, the Left Image is Layer 1, which places it at the top of the “stack”. Its bottom right corner is on top of the Center Image.
In this example, the Center Image is Layer 1, putting it at the top of the stack. Its bottom edges cover both the Left and Right Images.
In this example, the right image is Layer 1. Its bottom left corner is on top of the Center Image.
Note: only the Layers List order changes the stacking. The layer order in the Content Tab is related to the order in which the images were added to the slide, as well as assigned Slide Style Placemarkers.
