'group select' when copying layers to specific slides

I am needing to copy a group layer to a large number of slides and I was expecting to be able to use 'Shift + click' to be able to select a group/range of slides.  This did not seem to work tho - the only way I found to do it was to click one slide at a time (which is a bit tedious).

Is there a shortcut to select a range of slide?  (from what I am used to -  'Shift + click' would select a range - from the first clicked item to the last clicked item)
