Soundtrack Offset in Photopia
The Soundtrack Offset feature in Photopia gives you control over when your audio begins in relation to your slides. Whether you want music to start later in your show or crossfade two soundtracks, the Offset tool makes it simple.
In today’s blog, you’ll learn how to adjust the timing of your Soundtrack in two ways: numerically using the Offset setting or visually in the Timeline View.
Adjusting the Offset Numerically
The Offset setting provides a numerical way to offset a soundtrack.
- Click on the Soundtrack you’d like to adjust below your slides.
- Find the Offset setting in the Soundtrack tab (on the right)
- Enter the number of seconds you want to move the start of the soundtrack.
- A positive number will move the Soundtrack forward in time (to the right), a negative number will move it backward in time (to the left)
This method is best when you know the exact time you want to offset the soundtrack.
Adjusting the Offset Visually
If you prefer a more visual method, you can offset the soundtrack in the Timeline View:
- Switch to Timeline View (on the left, above the Slide List)
- Locate your Soundtrack. There is a scrollbar at the bottom to move the view to the left or right.
- To move the Soundtrack, hold down the Ctrl or Cmd key while clicking and dragging.
- Dragging it to the right will delay the start of the soundtrack. Dragging it to the left will create a crossfade between two songs, assuming you are working with more than one soundtrack.
This method is best when you want to visually align the music with the slides or transitions that appear above the soundtrack in the timeline view or create a crossfade, visually.
Soundtrack offsets give you control over when your soundtracks play. Use the Offset settings to have your background music start playing after your opening slides, or when you’re using multiple soundtracks and need precise control over when each one begins.
